Loot or legacy?

Growing up, it was always my goal to go to school, earn a degree and secure a high-paying job. This was my obsession!

My first job out of graduate school (in 1992), I started out making $46,500/year. Thru the years, I exceeded $200,000/year.

Life was great! Big house. Nice cars. Traveled the world. Awesome vacations!

It was all about LOOT!

But despite all of the toys, perks and pleasures, there was something missing! I found myself asking, “Is this the holy grail of life? Am I supposed to be happy?” And for me, the answer was emphatically NO!

I wanted to have a deeper purpose. I wanted to have the same impact on others, as many have had on me. I wanted to pay it forward in a big way.

For me, it was about LEGACY!

This propelled me to walk away from my corporate job. Simultaneously, I founded Youth Hoops Basketball Camps. From the outside, most people think it’s solely about teaching basketball skill. Truth is, we empower kids to become their best selves.

To date, Youth Hoops has been able to touch over 10,000 kids in multiple states, and 3 countries. As my mother would say, “God is great!”

Moral to the story, if your calling is calling you to act, go for it! At the end, you don’t want to have any regrets!
